ALBERT ROAD NEWS

Albert Road Traders Association is a not for profit organisation currently working with traders and the community to assist the regeneration programme in Albert Road. We are working with council officers as part of the local government's Communities in control: real people, real power scheme.

The public art commission has already taken on a life of it's own. The community have put forward ideas and drawings which support a challenging landmark sculpture for the entrance to Albert Road together with other ambitious ideas to be threaded east bound along our mile long road. The estimated cost of all the work = £95,000. Funds are being raised through official grant funding organisations such as the Southsea Town Council, the Lottery Fund and The Arts Council of England with additional support generated from the sale of Jute Bags.

If you would like more information about Albert Road please do not hesitate to contact Jenni Catlow - ARTA Chair (Tel: 023 9273 3363) or Sue McCombie - Treasurer.
